Order of the Planets

Our solar system consists of 8 planets, including our home, the Earth. There used to be 9 planets, but Pluto was declared a dwarf planet in 2006 and therefore is no longer included.

Here is the order, starting from the sun outwards:

  1. Mercury
  2. Venus
  3. Earth
  4. Mars
  5. Jupiter
  6. Saturn
  7. Uranus
  8. Neptune

Remembering the order:

To help you remember the order, there is a simple mnemonic device, where the first letters of the words represent the names of the planets:

My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Names.
